Controls Engineer

The Qualified applicant must possess:

  • Strong programming knowledge of motion controllers, PLC's, servo systems, vision systems and HMI's
  • Familiarity with industrial applications of electronics and pneumatics
  • 5 years experience with Allen Bradley PLC programming and configuration preferred
  • 5 years experience with Cognex vision programming
  • Ability to manage time and priorities under demanding circumstances
  • Excellent communication, listening, and reasoning skills
  • AutoCad proficiency a plus

 

Primary Duties:

  • Programming of motion controls, ladder logic, and HMI's
  • Engineer control systems used in high performance machines
  • Supervise initial installation and optimization of machinery ensuring maximum production potential
  • Administer maintenance and modifications of existing PLC programs
  • Efficiently manage multiple projects and processes across a large scope of work, simultaneously gauging task priority
  • Convey and validate project objectives and results
  • Provide phone support for division technicians for trouble shooting

 

Experienced with:

  • Allen-Bradley/Rockwell and Siemens equipment
  • Trouble shooting, maintenance and programming for various Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLC's
  • Programming using Ladder Logic
  • RS-Logix 5000, PanelView, Factory Talk, FTView, RSView, ControlLogix, CompactLogix, MicroLogix and SLC500

 

Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or an associate degree and 5+ years related experience in industrial automation controls

 

5 to 10% travel required

Field Service Engineer

The Qualified applicant must possess:

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills to solve a multitude of equipment related problems both mechanically and electrically
  • Excellent knowledge of industrial automation software packages and systems
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret electrical, pneumatic and mechanical schematics and drawings
  • Should have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively manage time, projects and lead a team of subordinates
  • A sound knowledge of installation and repair of automation equipment and the correct usage of the tools and equipment required
  • Excellent ability to analyze, make decisions and solve problems
  • Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines
  • Must be highly organized, systematic and precise in all work efforts

 

Primary Duties:

  • Installation, maintenance and repair of complex electro-mechanical automation systems for the medical device industry at customer facilities in the US and abroad
  • Perform functional analysis, de-bug and validation testing of PLC, HMI, servo motion and machine vision programs
  • Perform precision assembly, mechanical setup and alignment of machines, diagnose and resolve complex electro-mechanical problems
  • Suggest ways to improve the performance of machines and interface with mechanical and controls engineers
  • Installation and testing  of new software and hardware upgrades on existing equipment at customer facilities
  • Train customers  on operation and preventive maintenance
  • Travel, international or domestic for one to two week periods of time alone or as a team member approximately 5 to 6 times a year

 

Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or an associate degree and 5+ years related experience in engineering or technology related field

or

  • A high school diploma followed by a certification course or a vocational course in electro-mechanical engineering concepts or machining and 10+ years related experience
